The Royal Borough Teaching School Alliance relishes the opportunity to share the expertise which it has developed in its lead schools and is used to sharing this expertise with other schools both nationally and internationally. Whilst we recognise the importance of systems and processes in school improvement, we do not simply offer a one size fits all approach. We wish to support schools in establishing deep rooted and sustainable improvements through a bespoke programme of support.
The Royal Borough Teaching School Alliance operates a three-tiered model of support:
Teachers and leaders at one or more of our lead schools host a number of visits or ‘open classrooms’ with a focus on a particular subject, key stage or aspect of school improvement. These sessions can be tailored to suit the requirements of those attending. Professional discussions and opportunities for reflection are integrated.
Teachers and leaders at one or more of our lead schools host a number of visits or ‘open classrooms’ with a focus on a particular subject, key stage or aspect of school improvement. These sessions can be tailored to suit the requirements of those attending. Professional discussions and opportunities for reflection are integrated. Our ‘Silver’ level of support includes a reciprocal visit to the teacher or leader ‘in-situ’ and further practical support.
Leaders in the supported school are offered extended support over time which may include elements of Bronze and Silver above. Support is tailored and bespoke and may cover numerous elements of school leadership and management.
The Headteachers of the lead schools of The Royal Borough Teaching School Alliance are each National Leaders of Education and each school has a cadre of highly skilled and trained outstanding practitioners to contribute significantly to improving the outcomes for students through developing the capacity of peer leaders in other schools. Typically, NLEs will work with the Headteacher and SLEs will work with middle and/or senior leaders to:
- Carry out diagnostic visits.
- Develop action plans, identifying key priorities.
- Provide one-to-one or group support.
- Offer coaching and mentoring support.
- Provide access to resources and training.
The ultimate aim of NLEs and SLEs will always be to support the improvements of the outcomes for students through developing the capacity of leaders in other schools. There are links to our NLEs and SLEs in the menu on the left of this page.
